Wow! The kids are back in school…
August 26, 2008 at 4:00 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentAll of a sudden summer was over! Allie is back in pre-school. Just one more year before kindergarten and she is very excited to go to “real” school. One very nice thing about having your own pool is you can keep it open as long as you like. So even though school is back in session, which means Donner Aquatics Center and most other outdoor pools are closed, we are still enjoying ours. We won’t close it until it gets too cold to swim! Even though fall means no more pool (eventually) it’s still our favorite season!
Avoiding Mosquitoes
July 14, 2008 at 8:31 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentOfficials say there are four times the normal number of mosquitoes this year. So to make sure they don’t come around, here are some tips to avoid them:
* Mosquitoes are attracted to things that remind them of nectar. Wear light clothing and cover most of your body. Avoid bright, floral colors, but khaki, beige, and olive are good colors to wear.
* Mosquitoes are attracted by some body odors. Avoid fragrances in soaps, shampoos, and lotions.
* Citronella candles may be useful to keep mosquitoes away.
* Don’t apply insect repellent under clothes. Your body may absorb more of the toxic substances than is advisable.
* If you have kids, use pediatric insect repellent. They contain only 6 to 10 % DEET.
* Remove any standing water from your yard. Dispose of old tires, buckets, or any other container that may allow stagnant water.
Good luck at avoiding the little buggers!

Wedding Season
May 14, 2008 at 11:58 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentWedding season is in full swing! My wife Cassie and I own Maddox Entertainment (www.maddoxentertainment.com) and we DJ a LOT of weddings. It’s a good thing our daughter Allie loves seeing the babysitters just about every Saturday night, and sometimes Friday nights and Sunday afternoons too! By the way, if you’re planning a wedding in June, September or October ‘09 in this area you had better pick your vendors now! Those seem to be the busiest wedding months. If you’d like to find professional local vendors, planning tips & advice, and design ideas, check out Columbus Area Wedding Professionals at www.columbusareaweddings.com. We have a lot of fun DJ’ing weddings and other parties! You can’t beat that!
Backyard Time!
April 21, 2008 at 11:17 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentTags: cookout, party, yard
All of us in the Maddox household are really happy that spring is here! We had our first official cookout party yesterday. We kept the menu simple… burgers, dogs, veggie tray, chips… but it sure did taste good. Aside from a little rain after the sun went down it was great to hang out in the yard. Hope you’re enjoying the outdoors too!
backyards and playsets

Now that the weather is a little warmer, Allie (my 4 year old) is convinced we should put up our new playset right away. A couple months ago we got a good deal on the one we wanted. Which was great… but Allie has seen it sitting in the garage since then. So every few days (now it’s practically every day) she asks when we can put up “me playset” (kids talk funny don’t they)! She’s going to be at granny’s house the next few days so hopefully we can put it up while she’s gone. Allie will be so happy!
Prez Clinton & Blue Dresses
April 3, 2008 at 12:14 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentYou know, I was going to go see Bill yesterday, but it didn’t work out. Glad it didn’t because I don’t know if I could have waited an hour to see the former President! The blue dresses come in to play because our ever-on-top-of-things News Director Brittany Gray wore one to see Clinton!!! She didn’t mean to wear such Monica-esque attire. I’m sure if she had realized that she was wearing the same shade of blue as the ever-famous dress… she would have changed right away. But she didn’t notice it, so there she was, covering the President… playing the part of the Devil With A Blue Dress! Wonder if Willy noticed?
Just to clarify…
March 27, 2008 at 4:15 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments…I don’t wear girls panties! See Brittany Gray’s blog if you are completely KORN-fused about what I’m talking about. We try to have a good time in the morning… so I did a little impersonation of my 4-year-old daughter saying “Daddy, here’s your panties.” Priceless!
